Nagoya (Japan): Indian wushu player Roshibina Devi Naorem created history by winning her third successive Asian Games medal after securing silver in the women’s 60kg Sanda event at the 2026 Asian Games.

Roshibina lost 0-2 to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in the final held in Nagoya but achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Indian woman to win wushu medals at three consecutive editions of the Asian Games.

Her remarkable run began with a bronze medal at Jakarta 2018, followed by a silver medal at Hangzhou 2023 and another silver at Aichi-Nagoya 2026. Her latest achievement also marked India’s only medal in wushu at the 2026 Games.

Before reaching the final, Roshibina defeated Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0 in the semifinals, displaying strong technique and composure throughout the competition.

India also secured another medal in rowing, with Satnam Singh and Salman Khan winning bronze in the men’s double sculls event. The Indian pair was in contention for a higher finish but slipped from second place during the final 500 metres. China’s Yi Xudi and Yide Nie won gold, while Uzbekistan claimed silver.

Roshibina’s achievement has added another memorable chapter to India’s wushu history, while the rowing team’s podium finish further strengthened India’s performance at the Asian Games. Both athletes and teams continue to contribute to India’s growing presence in international sporting events.
