Ambernath: A shocking incident of cruelty to an animal has come to light in Ambernath after a cat was allegedly thrown from the 12th floor of a building at Royal Flora housing society in the Palegaon area of Ambernath East. The cat died on the spot after the fall, prompting strong condemnation from animal lovers, who have demanded strict legal action against the accused.
According to residents, the cat had lived on the premises of Royal Flora Society for the past three years. Known for being calm and friendly, she was cared for by many residents and had become a favourite across the society. On the evening of July 26, while the cat was playing near a window, a man walking on a balcony allegedly pushed her down. The allegation is based on CCTV footage of the incident.
A wave of anger spread after the footage surfaced, with citizens calling the act cruel and shameful. Animal lovers gathered soon after the news broke, demanding that a case be registered against the person responsible and that he should face strict punishment.
Residents of the housing society and animal welfare activists are demanding a thorough police investigation based on the CCTV footage, along with action against the accused under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
The incident has once again raised concerns over the safety of animals in residential societies, with activists asserting that cruelty of this kind has no place in society.
