Ulwe: Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) saw a boost in regional connectivity on October 5 with the arrival of the first aircraft from regional airline FLY91. The aircraft, which flew in from Hyderabad, received a traditional water cannon salute, marking the airline’s entry into NMIA’s expanding domestic network.
Under its winter schedule, FLY91 will operate direct flights from Navi Mumbai to Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Goa and Agatti in Lakshadweep. The new services are expected to strengthen tourism, business travel and regional connectivity across Maharashtra, the western coast and Lakshadweep.
With Navi Mumbai becoming FLY91’s 14th domestic destination and fifth in Maharashtra, the airline’s network now includes Goa, Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Solapur, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Agatti, Kochi, Hubballi, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada and Tirupati.
“FLY91’s arrival is an important addition to the airport’s expanding network. Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Goa and Agatti are significant destinations for tourism, business and regional travel. We are continuing to expand the network to make Navi Mumbai a more convenient gateway for passengers from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region,” said Subhash Murikanchery, Chief Airport Officer, Navi Mumbai International Airport.
FLY91 Founder, Managing Director and CEO Manoj Chacko said, “The arrival marked an important milestone for the airline. FLY91 aims to develop a viable regional aviation network connecting emerging markets across western India through direct services from Navi Mumbai.”
The airline has placed a firm order for 40 ATR 72-600 aircraft worth around $1 billion. Deliveries are scheduled between 2027 and 2032, potentially expanding its fleet from six aircraft to 60.
Meanwhile, NMIA has crossed 3.2 million passengers since commercial operations began on December 25, 2025. The airport, which initially connected 13 destinations, now serves around 43 domestic destinations and has recorded more than 25,295 commercial aircraft movements.
