Kalyan: Two siblings, Dhruv Solanki and his sister, sustained serious head injuries after plaster fell from a dilapidated building near Shukla Complex in the Ganeshwadi area of Kalyan East.

The incident occurred while the duo was travelling on a two-wheeler along the main road. Suddenly, a portion of plaster from the building’s slab fell on them, injuring both. Local residents rushed them to the nearest hospital, where they received medical treatment.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of pedestrians and motorists, as the building is reportedly in poor and potentially dangerous condition. Its location along a busy road has heightened fears that further structural damage could cause a more serious accident.

Local residents alleged that they had repeatedly complained to the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) about the building’s condition, but no effective action had been taken.

Residents fear that if the plaster or a larger section of the structure collapses, it could endanger more lives. The injury of two people has intensified calls for the civic administration to address the issue urgently.

Citizens have questioned whether the KDMC will take action following the incident. They have demanded an immediate structural inspection, appropriate safety measures and a decision on whether the building needs to be demolished.

Residents have stressed that prompt intervention is necessary to prevent further injuries and ensure the safety of people using the busy road. The incident has once again highlighted concerns over the maintenance of dangerous buildings and the need for timely civic action.
