Navi Mumbai News: Chalo Lotus Lake protest continues for fifth Sunday

Nerul: With CIDCO ignoring the Maharashtra Forest Minister’s deadline to clear debris from Lotus Lake, Nerul, citizens continued their peaceful protest for the fifth consecutive on July 6. Around 80 environmentally conscious citizens, including college students, gathered for the ‘Chalo Lotus Lake’ march, demanding that CIDCO fulfil its duty to protect the notified wetland.
“Many housing societies have sent support letters. We will compile and submit them to the Chief Minister,” said activist Santosh Karkera.
“The dumping was stopped by the High Court-appointed Wetlands Grievances Redressal Committee, but we will continue Sunday gatherings to maintain pressure and spread awareness,” lead protestor Sunil Agrawal added.
