Thane: In a bid to ensure the holistic development of Thane district, Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde outlined several key initiatives during a District Planning Committee meeting on September 26.
Shinde announced that an expert committee would be formed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to address the increasing traffic congestion in the region. The committee aims to find permanent solutions using advanced technologies, including drone and AI-based traffic management systems.
In line with modernising infrastructure, Shinde revealed plans to convert all primary health centres into smart health centres and local schools into smart schools, with funding through CSR and public participation. He also emphasised the importance of solarising government buildings with rooftop solar systems.
Additionally, the meeting focused on tackling water scarcity by raising the Chikhali Dam and sourcing water for Ulhasnagar from the Ulhas River. Other initiatives included developing 39 tourist spots and prioritising skill development and infrastructure improvements.
Shinde also launched “Seva Samvad,” a fast-feedback service aimed at improving governance and ensuring public participation in district initiatives.
