Aichi (Japan): India’s shooters delivered a memorable double-podium performance in the men’s 10m air rifle event at the Asian Games 2026, with Himanshu Dhillon winning silver and Rudrankksh Patil securing bronze.

Competing at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery, Dhillon, making his Asian Games debut, produced a composed performance to finish second in the individual event. Patil, who had previously impressed on the international stage, added another medal for India by claiming third place.

The success followed India’s silver medal in the team event earlier in the competition. Dhillon, Patil and Parth Rakesh Mane combined to score 1890.1 points, finishing behind China, who secured gold with a world-record score of 1899.0 points. South Korea finished third with 1884.2 points.

President Droupadi Murmu congratulated the shooters, praising their focus and sporting excellence, while Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the performance reflected India’s growing strength in rifle shooting.

The results continued India’s impressive run in shooting at the Nagoya Games. Earlier, Elavenil Valarivan had won silver medals in both the individual and team women’s 10m air rifle events.

With several more rifle and pistol events scheduled in the coming days, India’s shooting contingent will look to build on the strong opening performances and add further medals to its tally. The early success has strengthened hopes of another successful Asian Games campaign for the country’s shooters.
