Birthday sword reel triggers police action

Navi Mumbai: A birthday celebration involving the cutting of a cake with a sword-like weapon and its subsequent posting as a social media reel has landed three young men in legal trouble in Turbhe MIDC. Turbhe police have registered a case against the trio under the Arms Act and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act.
The accused have been identified as Ajit Munna Saroj (20), Vishal Munna Saroj (22) and Abhishek Paswan. According to police, Ajit Saroj was celebrating his birthday on September 10. At around 11 pm, the three allegedly gathered on a public road near Vishal Hotel, close to the lake in Turbhe MIDC, where they cut a birthday cake using a sword-like weapon.
The celebration was recorded on video and uploaded on social media as a reel. The video later came to the attention of Turbhe police, who initiated action after noticing the alleged display and use of a weapon in a public place.
Police said, “The incident amounted to a violation of the weapon prohibition order issued by the Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner. A case has been registered under Sections 4 and 25 of the Indian Arms Act, 1959, and Sections 37(1)(a) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.”
