Turbhe: A shocking case of the abduction, sexual assault and murder of a nine-year-old girl has come to light in Turbhe after her body was found on a hill near Bavkhaleshwar Temple in the Pawane MIDC area. The girl, who went missing from near her home on Saturday afternoon, October 10, was allegedly lured away with the promise of a snack by a 30-year-old man neighbour. Turbhe police traced and arrested the accused with the help of CCTV footage. The incident has triggered shock and outrage in the area.

According to the police, the girl was playing near her home on October 10 when she suddenly went missing. After searching for her in the surrounding areas, her family approached Turbhe police station and lodged a complaint. The police registered a case of kidnapping under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and launched a search operation to trace the missing child.

CCTV footage provides crucial lead

Taking the case seriously, the police examined CCTV footage from the area and questioned residents. They also gathered confidential information as part of the investigation.

During the probe, investigators noticed a man who seemed acquainted with the girl, allegedly offering her a snack and taking her away. Further examination of CCTV footage revealed that the suspect had taken the girl in an autorickshaw.

Based on these crucial leads, the police traced the suspect, took him into custody and questioned him in detail.

Body recovered from Pawane MIDC Hill

During interrogation, the accused confessed to taking the girl to a forested area near Bavkhaleshwar Temple in Pawane MIDC, where he sexually assaulted her and strangled her to death, police said.

Following the information obtained during the investigation, a police team searched the hill near the temple and recovered the girl's body.
