New Delhi: India all-rounder Shreyanka Patil has recovered from her ankle injury and is set to return to competitive cricket during the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, providing a major boost to the team’s campaign.

Shreyanka missed the Asia Cup and the latter stages of the Women’s T20 World Cup after suffering the injury while fielding during India’s match against the Netherlands. She was forced off the field and later ruled out of the tournament, with the BCCI naming Prema Rawat as her replacement.

Her coach Arjun Dev confirmed that the off-spinner is fit and travelling with the Indian squad for the Asian Games. Shreyanka’s selection had earlier been subject to fitness clearance after the injury setback.

The 24-year-old has endured a challenging period with injuries, including a fractured finger and a long spell out due to shin-related issues. She returned to international cricket in 2026 after a 16-month absence and was included in India’s T20 World Cup squad before another injury interrupted her progress.

Shreyanka’s comeback will strengthen India’s bowling and batting options. Since making her international debut in December 2023, she has featured in three ODIs and 24 T20Is, claiming 34 wickets.

India enter the Asian Games as defending champions after winning the women’s cricket gold medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Games. The tournament in Japan will once again be played in the T20 format, with Shreyanka’s return expected to add balance to the squad.
