Ulhasnagar: A major boost to Ulhasnagar’s water infrastructure is set to come with the approval of a Rs 211.06 crore water supply project under the Central Government’s Amrit 2.0 Mission. The project has been sanctioned following continuous efforts by MP Dr Shrikant Shinde.
The ambitious project will include the construction of an intake well, a jackwell, a pump house, a modern water treatment plant, a raw water rising main, a solar power system and a new water distribution network. The project is expected to be completed within 12 months.
Once implemented, the scheme is expected to ensure a more reliable and regular supply of clean drinking water to residents, reduce water leakage, improve distribution efficiency and strengthen the city’s capacity to meet the requirements of its growing population.
Shiv Sena Kalyan District Chief Gopal Landge, while addressing a press conference, said the project would bring significant improvements to Ulhasnagar’s existing water supply system and address long-standing concerns of citizens.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation on July 15. The event was attended by Mayor Ashwini Nikam, MLA Kumar Ailani, Water Supply Committee Chairperson Deepa Punjabi, Shiv Sena group leader Arun Ashan, Standing Committee Chairman Kulwant Bitti Sohata, City Chief Rajendra Chaudhary, corporators and other party leaders.
The project is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring sustainable water management and improving civic infrastructure in Ulhasnagar.
