Mira Bhayandar: In a major step toward easing traffic and promoting green transport, Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced that the foundation stone for Mira-Bhayandar's Pod Taxi (Elevated Car) Project will be laid this Diwali. Set to launch in two years, the ₹1,000 crore project will run under a Public-Private Partnership without using government funds.
Featuring 16 stations linked to metro hubs, the pod taxis will operate on 18-meter-wide roads, with a 2-minute wait time and fares set at ₹30 for 1–2 km for the next 30 years. The system will include anti-collision tech and advanced structural designs.
This will be Maharashtra’s second such project after Vadodara. The first phase begins in the JP Infra area, covering Wards 12, 13, and 18. Sarnaik also reviewed 26 development projects worth ₹1,800 crore, with metro services expected by December 2025.
