NMMT holds cleanliness drive at 10 locations

Belapur: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) conducted a special cleanliness drive at 10 locations across the city under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2026’ campaign and the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. The drive began at 8:00 a.m. with the objective of keeping bus stations and surrounding public areas clean and free of waste. The campaign was conducted at Belapur railway station, Nerul bus station, Airoli bus station, Vashi railway station, Koparkhairane bus station, CBD bus station, Sarsole bus station, Vashi bus station, Vashi Sector 7 and Artist Village.

During the drive, officials and employees removed accumulated garbage and unwanted material from bus stations, passenger areas, roadsides and other public spaces. Participants also took a cleanliness pledge to promote public awareness about maintaining clean surroundings.

Transport Committee chairman Vikas Zanjad, transport committee members, and NMMT officials and employees actively participated in the campaign. The drive was conducted under the guidance of Transport Manager Umakant Jangale.

Executive Engineer (Mechanical) Vivek Achalkar and Chief Transport Officer Sunil Salunkhe were appointed as coordinating and supervisory officers.

The initiative aimed to provide passengers with a clean, safe and healthy environment while encouraging citizens to maintain cleanliness around public transport facilities. NMMT said similar cleanliness and awareness drives will continue regularly across its bus stations, depots and public areas.
