Navi Mumbai: Contract workers of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) are expected to receive a monthly wage increase of Rs 7,500, along with pending arrears for June and July, providing financial relief to thousands of employees and their families.

NMMC House Leader Sagar Naik announced that the implementation process has gained momentum following the Standing Committee’s decision. The revised wages are expected to benefit contract workers who have been awaiting the increase.

As part of the proposed rollout, the first cheque reflecting the enhanced salary is planned to be handed over during Dussehra, subject to the completion of the necessary formalities.

The revised salary, after deductions towards Provident Fund (PF) and other applicable statutory contributions, will be credited directly to workers’ bank accounts.

The proposed hike is expected to ease some of the financial pressure on contract employees amid rising household expenses. The payment of pending arrears for June and July would provide additional relief once the disbursement process is completed.

The implementation timeline will depend on the completion of administrative procedures. Workers are now awaiting the formal rollout of the revised wages and clearance of their outstanding dues.

The development marks a significant step towards improving the financial security of NMMC contract workers, although the enhanced payments remain subject to the completion of the required formalities.
