New Delhi: The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) president Ajay Singh has suspended secretary general Pramod Kumar with immediate effect pending an inquiry into alleged financial irregularities, non-cooperation with investigations and misuse of authority, according to a report dated October 14, 2026.
The suspension order, issued on October 13, cites several allegations against Kumar, including issuing a work order for broadcasting arrangements without obtaining the required approval from the federation’s finance committee.
Kumar has also been accused of failing to cooperate with an inquiry into the cancellation of the BFI Elite Men and Women Open Boxing Championship, which was scheduled to take place in Nahan, Himachal Pradesh, from August 16 to 23, 2026.
Another concern raised in the order relates to Kumar’s alleged attempt to convene an unauthorised meeting to move a no-confidence motion against Singh. Kumar had called for a Special General Meeting on October 28, claiming support from a majority of affiliated state units.
The suspension comes a day after Kumar wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing Singh and BFI executive director Colonel Arun Malik of criminal intimidation over the proposed no-confidence motion. Malik dismissed the allegations as baseless.
The order clarifies that the suspension is an interim measure and does not constitute a final determination of the allegations. Kumar has been directed to refrain from performing his duties as secretary general while the inquiry continues.
