With the onset of the much-awaited festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, one pandal in particular is capturing the hearts and minds of its residents. The Ekta Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal in Sector 16, Vashi, is not just about celebrating the elephant-headed God but is also spreading a profound message of unity.

Established in 1993, Ekta Mandal, Sector 16 has become one of the oldest and most popular Ganesh mandals in Navi Mumbai. This year marks its 29th year of celebrating Lord Ganesha, with the idol being a magnificent 14-foot-tall idol that pays homage to the famous Lalbaug cha Raja.

One of the highlights of the festival's inauguration was the grand welcome of Lord Ganesha with the Mumbai-renowned Dhol Tasha Pathak Vandan and the Atharva Beats official band. It was a spectacle that attracted both young and old, symbolising the unity that this pandal strives to promote.

Every year, thousands of devotees flock to Ekta Mandal to catch a glimpse of Lord Ganesh. However, this pandal is not just about religious rituals. It has always been dedicated to serving the community. From organizing cultural events for children to conducting medical campaigns for the elderly residents, Ekta Mandal's commitment to social welfare is commendable. The Mandal operates under the guidance and supervision of Dr. D.K. Patil and a dedicated team of members who share a vision of unity.

Ekta Mandal's devotion to Maharashtra's traditional culture is evident in its annual Ganesh Aaradhana, where they invite Bhajan Mandali groups to perform. This spiritual celebration is followed by the Aarti, creating an atmosphere of divine bliss. Moreover, the Mandal hosts a Bhandara, inviting thousands of devotees to partake in delicious food as part of Ganpati Bappa's Mahaprasad. Over the years, their efforts have been recognized and rewarded with numerous awards.

The name "Ekta," which means "unity," encapsulates the essence of this pandal. Despite not having substantial political or financial support, nor relying on hefty donations, the Mandal's unwavering dedication to Lord Ganesha has the power to bring people from all walks of life together under one roof. It is a testament to the belief that during Ganesh Chaturthi, Lord Ganesha himself paves the way for unity, transcending differences and celebrating the spirit of togetherness.

Sparsh Clinic is organising a free health check up camp on 23rd September from 11 am to 2 pm at Ekta Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal  premises, informed Deepika Parkar, member of the Mandal.
