Belapur: Even as Covid-19 cases had witnessed an uptick in some parts of Maharashtra, the health department of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has urged citizens to remain calm, take precautions, and maintain personal hygiene.
“Residents of Navi Mumbai are urged not to panic but to take necessary precautions. The municipal corporation assures that all appropriate measures have been put in place. Citizens are encouraged not to believe rumours or spread unnecessary fear,” said Dr Kailas Shinde, Commissioner, NMMC.
However, NMMC is prepared for any eventuality. Five beds have been reserved in each of the public hospitals located in Vashi, Nerul, and Airoli. Additionally, a testing laboratory is operational at the Maasahib Meenatai Thackeray Public Hospital, Nerul.
The civic primary health centres and hospitals are actively treating patients with cold, cough, and influenza-like illnesses. Considering the potential Covid risk, all municipal hospitals and health centres have received instructions to stay vigilant for Covid cases.
Private medical practitioners have also been advised to remain alert and promptly report any Covid-like symptoms.
In case of symptoms like cold, cough, or flu, individuals should focus on personal hygiene, seek medical advice, and visit their nearest municipal primary health centre or hospital for treatment.
As a precaution, if anyone experiences fever, cold, or cough symptoms, it is important to follow certain safety measures to prevent respiratory infections.
