Ulhasnagar: The Central Police have arrested two youths from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly smuggling ganja into Ulhasnagar and seized around 15 kg of the contraband, estimated to be worth Rs 7–8 lakh in the market.

The action followed a tip-off received by the police about the suspects’ movements in the Shantinagar area behind Vitthalwadi railway station. Acting on the information, police personnel laid a trap and apprehended the two men.

The accused were identified as Saurabh Virendra Pandey (23), a resident of Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh, and Akash Arvind Sahani (25), a resident of Mau in the state.

The operation was conducted by a team led by Senior Police Inspector Ashok Koli and Police Inspector Shital Bamane, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Gore.

Following the seizure, the Central Police launched a detailed investigation to determine the intended recipients of the consignment and establish whether other individuals were involved in the alleged smuggling operation.

Police are also investigating the arrested men's possible links to a larger drug supply network operating in the region. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
