In a concerted effort against unauthorized constructions, Thane Municipal Corporation's (TMC) anti-encroachment team and Ward Committee recently launched the "Dhadak" campaign. The operation targeted areas in Diva, Mumbra, Kalwa, and Majiwada-Manpada, resulting in the demolition of illegal structures and disconnection of unauthorized water taps.

Under the directives of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the municipal authorities initiated a vigorous campaign to eradicate unauthorized constructions in the Thane Municipal Area. Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar emphasized the need to take stringent actions to curb such activities.

In Diva, the anti-encroachment team focused on the MS Compound - DP Road area. The third floor of one building and the second floor of another were demolished. In Diva East Shlok Nagar, the third-floor slab of a partially occupied six-stored building was razed down, and the stairs were demolished. Ground-floor structures in front of Aarti Apartment were also brought down, along with the stairs of a partially occupied six-stored building in Sitaram Patil Nagar. An unauthorized piling near St. Mary's School was also removed.

While in Mumbra area the authorities razed unauthorized structures in the Rana Nagar area. Additionally, a basement and RCC construction in Tanwar Nagar Complex were completely dismantled.

Likewise in Kalwa's Kumbhar Ali area, the RCC slabs for the ground floor were demolished. The extension of 3rd and 4th floor slabs near Vitava Bay, including the internal brickwork of the 4th floor was demolished.

In Majiwada-Manpada, unauthorized RCC slabs and columns on the second and third floors were demolished. Action was also taken against four unauthorized structures at Ovala Naka.

Simultaneously, the municipal authorities disconnected a total of 19 unauthorized tap connections in Diva, specifically in Shlok Nagar, Shastri Nagar, and Ansh Nagar. The operation resulted in the seizure of two motor pumps and eight pipes measuring 25 mm and 60 meters by the water supply department. “The stringent measures aim to preserve the structural integrity of the region and deter unauthorized constructions in the future”, informed an official from TMC.
