To address traffic congestion and improve road safety in the city, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC), under the guidance of Commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh, has undertaken the installation of traffic signals at Adai Circle and Swarnaganga Circle.

In a concerted effort to solve traffic-related challenges in Panvel, Commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh has actively spearheaded this initiative. According to Dr. Prashant Rasal, an additional commissioner, traffic signals have been introduced at Adai Circle and Swarnaganga Circle to regulate vehicular movement effectively.

“The introduction of traffic signals at Adai Circle is expected to streamline the flow of traffic from Panvel to Matheran Road, where a substantial number of vehicles navigate daily. Morning and evening rush hours see a significant influx of various company buses and regular vehicles, contributing to congestion in the area. Moreover, the growing population in this region has led to an increase in the number of vehicles, further exacerbating the traffic situation. The newly installed traffic signals are anticipated to mitigate these challenges and enhance road safety”, said Commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh.

Similarly, at Swarnaganga Circle, the intersection connecting Sion-Panvel Highway and the city, traffic signals have been installed to manage the increasing number of vehicles passing through this location. The signals will facilitate a smoother and safer transition for vehicles heading to Karjat, Kharghar, and beyond. By introducing these traffic signals, the municipal corporation aims to reduce traffic congestion and promote orderly traffic movement, improving overall road safety.

In addition to traffic signal installations, the Electrical Department of the PMC is actively engaged in various projects to enhance public safety and amenities. The replacement of traditional streetlights with energy-efficient LED lights is one such endeavour. Furthermore, the department is actively considering other vital traffic control measures to address the city's growing traffic needs.

The newly introduced traffic signals are expected to play a crucial role in maintaining discipline on the roads, reducing accidents, and ensuring the safe and efficient flow of traffic within Panvel.
