Kalyan: Health workers serving across civic health centres under the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) have alleged non-payment of salaries since November 2025, leading to growing financial distress among staff. In protest, several employees gathered outside the KDMC headquarters, demanding the immediate release of pending wages and arrears.
The agitating workers stated that employees appointed under the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) have faced irregular salary payments for nearly a year. According to them, salaries from November 2025 to March 2026 remain unpaid. In addition, the revised salary hike announced in July 2025 has not been implemented, and arrears linked to the increase are still pending.
The protesters also highlighted disparities in remuneration compared to other municipal corporations, where NUHM employees reportedly receive a salary increment of ₹15,000. They alleged that KDMC has not extended similar benefits to its health staff. Apart from unpaid salaries, several reimbursements and bills remain unsettled. These include rickshaw travel allowances, payments related to support groups, and health enhancement bills for Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) and General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) staff working at urban health centres.
Due to prolonged delays in payments, many NUHM staff members say they are struggling to manage household expenses and meet financial commitments. The uncertainty surrounding their income has added to stress among frontline health workers who continue to deliver essential services despite the situation.
Considering the mounting financial burden, the protesting employees have urged the civic administration to resolve the matter at the earliest. They have demanded immediate clearance of pending salaries, payment of revised wage arrears, and settlement of all outstanding bills to ensure financial stability for health workers serving in the KDMC area.
