Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav mandals begin constructing mandaps

With the auspicious occasion of Ganeshotsav just around the corner, Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandals in the Navi Mumbai area have embarked on their preparations. The construction, decoration, and setting up of elaborate mandaps (pavilions) have been initiated, with many opting for waterproof pavilion construction this year.

The fervour for Ganeshotsav, the festival celebrating Lord Ganesha's arrival, is deep as sarvajanik mandals in the region have geared up for a grand celebration. The pandemic had forced many Ganeshotsav Mandals to suspend festivities for two consecutive years. However, with a decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases and the virus essentially vanishing, organizers have eagerly resumed their preparations.

As this year's Ganeshotsav promises to be even more exuberant than the previous years, mandals have left no stone unturned in their preparations, from constructing the mandap structures to creating intricate scenes that depict various aspects of Lord Ganesha's life.

With just one week remaining until the commencement of the Ganesh festival on September 19th, construction workers are working diligently to meet the deadline. Given the potential for rain during Ganeshotsav, many Mandals have given top priority to constructing waterproof pavilions to ensure that their hard work doesn't go to waste and that the decorations remain dry.

Workers at various public Ganesh Utsav Mandals and Mitra Mandals in Navi Mumbai have expressed their preference for waterproof pavilions this year. To safeguard against unexpected rainfall, they are incorporating iron sheets and plastic tarpaulin as additional support while constructing the mandaps. This precaution is aimed at preventing rain from interfering with the festival, as heavy rainfall could lead to the dissolution of pavilions and damage to the intricate Ganeshotsav scenes.
