MSEDCL urges caution during Kite Flying

top-news

As Makar Sankranti approaches, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited (MSEDCL) has issued a crucial appeal to citizens to exercise caution while revelling in the age-old tradition of flying kites. The vibrant sky, adorned with sky blue kites and the aroma of sesame and jaggery, enhances the festive spirit, especially among children and seniors. However, the joyous occasion also brings potential risks, primarily concerning the proximity of kites and their manja to electrical infrastructure.

The power distribution authority highlights the expansive network of infrastructure vital for electricity distribution across urban and rural landscapes. To prevent accidents and mishaps, MSEDCL advises maintaining a safe distance from electrical systems and utilizing open fields for kite-flying endeavours. The appeal emphasizes refraining from attempting to disentangle kites or manja stuck on power lines and poles due to the inherent dangers associated with short circuits and potential life or financial losses.

Additionally, MSEDCL strongly discourages attempting to retrieve kites entangled in electrical wires from rooftops or climbing on poles, as these actions pose serious risks. The public is urged not to resort to throwing stones tied to ropes at power lines in attempts to dislodge kites, as this could lead to further complications and dangers.

A crucial point of caution from MSEDCL is the avoidance of coming in contact with low-voltage power lines, feeder pillars and other electrical systems, as its contact with the electrical system may result in the risk of electrocution. In case of emergencies or accidents, citizens are encouraged to promptly contact the relevant branch office of MSEDCL.

For any concerns or emergencies, MSEDCL urges the public to reach out to their customer service canter through the toll-free numbers 1800-233-3435 or 1800-212-3435.
