MNS urges installation of protection nets along Sanpada drain

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has received a pressing plea from MNS Division President Yogesh Shete regarding the urgent need to address the deteriorating condition of the drainage system in Sanpada.

Yogesh Shete, in a statement directed to Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation City Engineer Sanjay Desai, highlighted the alarming state of affairs along the main drain from Sanpada Sector 6 Godavari Park Society to Juinagar Railway Station. Despite the installation of protection nets last year, Shete observed that these nets have been damaged and, in some instances, stolen.

The consequence of these missing or broken nets has led to a myriad of issues plaguing the area. The absence of protection has resulted in the accumulation of waste and debris along the drain, leading to foul odours and unsanitary conditions. Additionally, the area has become a hotspot for nocturnal activities, with alcoholics frequenting the vicinity, further exacerbating the situation.

Residents navigating through this area are subjected to unpleasant odour and health hazards due to the unhygienic environment. Moreover, the erosion of soil from the green belt adjacent to the drain poses an imminent threat, especially with the onset of the monsoon season.

Expressing concern over the potential escalation of these problems, Yogesh Shete urged immediate action from the concerned authorities. He emphasized the necessity of conducting a thorough inspection of the area and promptly installing new protection nets to prevent further deterioration and mitigate future risks.
