Book clubs across the city are set to celebrate World Book Day on 23rd April

As World Book Day approaches book clubs across the city are getting ready to celebrate the occasion. Books are an amalgamation of knowledge, adventure and emotions. A few pages of a book often entail a lifetime worth of lessons, which is why reading has always been the most sought after hobby. This hobby brings together people and the readers unite to create book clubs.

Navi Mumbai Reads, a local book club encourages everyone to join them for a month of diving into and discussing literature of all kinds. "We are excited to celebrate World Book Day by hosting weekly reading sessions where we will explore diverse works and discuss them. We'll also come together to talk about our favourite reads, recite poems, play book-themed board games, and simply have fun with fellow book lovers. Our club is a safe space for all lovers of literature."

A representative from Navi Mumbai book club, an instagram page said , “Reading is a hobby that ties people of all ages together. On World Book Day we encourage members and non-members to pick up a book from their favourite genre and just start reading. Since buying books can get expensive we suggest enthusiastic readers to approach booksbykilo. Booksbykilo is an initiative that serves as a beacon of hope offering affordable access to a wide array of books. We intend to celebrate a special world book day along with their support``.

Booksbykilo is an online bookstore that sells books by weight at incredibly affordable rates. Mr.Abhishek, an official said, “On World Book Day, we are planning  exhilarating exhibitions across cities (Coimbatore, Chennai), where we would be showcasing a vast array of books sourced from every corner of the globe, all offered at enticingly discounted prices. In the spirit of giving back, a portion of the proceeds from our Book Day sales will be generously donated to literacy charities and organisations dedicated to promoting reading and education. For those unable to attend the exhibitions in person, we would run exclusive discounts on our website, www.booksbykilo.in, and at our store in Kamothe, Navi Mumbai''.

The sentiment of advocating for such startups resonates deeply, as it not only addresses the immediate need for accessible reading materials but also fosters a culture where the benefits of reading are widely shared and celebrated.

An avid book reader, Ms. Veenaz Vaid has a popular Instagram page titled 'yoursaesthetically_' with over 2 million views. On World Book Day, she will be providing valuable book recommendations on her page. She said , " My message to everyone is to dive into the world of books without thinking twice, not a single person that I know regrets it".
