Panvel: In order to commemorate a decade of the Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act (2015) Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) held a series of awareness initiatives on April 28, including a vibrant student outreach event at MNR Schools in Kamothe.

More than 800 students enthusiastically participated in poster making, essay writing, and elocution competitions aimed at promoting civic awareness.

Organised under the guidance of PMC Commissioner Mangesh Chitale, the competitions sought to engage students in understanding the role of public service rights and democratic responsibilities.

Far from being ceremonial, the activities were designed as educational tools to foster awareness about the citizens’ right to timely and accountable government services.

Addressing the young participants, PMC Assistant Commissioner Shriram Pawar highlighted the objectives of the Right to Services Act and explained how the legislation has enhanced transparency in public service delivery. He highlighted the importance of nurturing informed and responsible future citizens.

Students displayed creative flair in posters bearing powerful social messages, while essayists tackled themes such as ‘Democracy and My Responsibility’ and ‘The Right to Services Act: A Victory for the People.’ The elocution round saw impassioned speeches that drew applause from teachers and parents.

Winners were awarded certificates and prizes by Pawar, as the event concluded on a celebratory note.
