Relief comes after hours

A major traffic disruption ensued on the Thane-Belapur route early Wednesday morning following the overturning of a cargo container destined from JNPT to Bhiwandi, causing extensive delays for commuters heading towards Thane and Mulund. The incident occurred at the flyover near Ghansoli railway station, where the container trailer lost balance and toppled onto the road divider.

 The mishap resulted in a massive backlog of vehicles, snarling traffic flow and causing inconvenience to motorists traversing the route. Prompt intervention by Rabale traffic police facilitated the relocation of the container's cargo into another vehicle by 2 pm, enabling the removal of the overturned container and the subsequent restoration of traffic movement.

The container trailer, laden with cargo from JNPT bound for Bhiwandi, encountered difficulties while ascending the flyover, leading to its overturning and obstructing the passage of vehicles towards Thane and Mulund. With only one lane accessible due to the accident, traffic police diligently managed the situation, allowing vehicles from Belapur and Mahape to proceed towards Thane and Mumbai via MIDC to alleviate congestion.

However, the process of clearing the accident site was impeded by the substantial load of goods within the overturned container, coupled with damage sustained by the trailer body. Efforts to transfer the cargo to an alternative container and subsequently remove the overturned trailer were undertaken, culminating in the restoration of traffic flow by 2 pm.
