Commuters and residents of the city have raised complaint regarding motorbike riders speeding on roads without silencers. This reckless behaviour poses a major danger to fellow commuters, especially on roads, which are known to be accident prone zones.

Ms. Pallavi Nair, a resident of Sanpada, shared, “While walking around the Jewel of Navi Mumbai in Nerul with my friends I heard a loud roaring sound. I realised it was caused by a motorbike speeding past Palm Beach Road, which was the road that was adjacent to our location. My friends and I could only catch a glimpse of it before it sped off, out of our sight. This behaviour is highly dangerous and can lead to more accidents on the road,” Ms. Nair further said, “Authorities need to take strict action against such behaviour and I urge those commuting to strictly follow traffic rules to ensure everyone's safety”.

Ms. Ishita Raikar, a resident of Nerul, shared her concerns and said, “Bikers have been speeding recklessly across the roads, often during early morning and late nights, for the purpose of avoiding getting caught. While on a drive at the Belapur flyover three bikers speeded by my car, the loud sounds of their bikes caught me off guard and I was left shocked at their reckless behaviour. Many of these bikers don't have silencers and are causing a lot of noise pollution, which has become an annoyance for both commuters and the public. This has raised serious safety concerns and needs to be looked into as soon as possible. The authorities should take strong and swift action to bring this recklessness by motorbike riders to an end”.

A traffic police official from the Nerul Traffic Police department stated, “There are hefty fines for both speeding and riding a bike without the silencer. If any citizen encounters these riders I request them to note down their bike numbers and inform us. We assure that action will be taken against them”.

The speeding motorbikes are a serious threat to other road users as their loud noises and fast movement often lead to unexpected collisions and accidents, causing serious harm. It's advisable for the authorities to take strict action against such behaviour to ensure the safety of commuters and pedestrians.
