Residents of Koparkhairane are facing problems following the dust storm that swept the city on the 13th of May, uprooting several trees across the area. Despite the passage of two days, the trees that were uprooted remain where they fell, blocking roads and sidewalks, and causing both inconvenience and safety concerns for the community.
Shree Shinde, a resident of Sector-1 Koparkhairane, expressed his frustration and said, “The unexpected dust storm took us all by surprise, leading to multiple trees falling over onto the roads. One such incident occurred right outside my home, where a fallen tree is now obstructing the path ahead. It has been two days since the storm, and no action has been taken to address this issue. We urgently request the local authorities to clear up the mess as soon as possible and take necessary measures to prevent such delays in the future.”
The presence of the fallen trees has not only disrupted commutes but also raised safety concerns. Pedestrians, especially the elderly and children, are forced to navigate around the obstacles, which increases the risk of accidents.
A resident of Sector 4, Koparkhairane shared, "Due to the trees lying around it has become increasingly difficult for pedestrians to walk on the footpaths because we are constantly forced to navigate around piles of debris. This not only makes walking unsafe but also creates significant safety hazards that can lead to traffic congestion and accidents. The situation needs urgent attention to ensure the safety of everyone using the roads and sidewalks.”
