In a bid to enhance both the aesthetic appeal and the safety standards of municipal buildings, Municipal Commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), Saurabh Rao, has issued directives to launch a comprehensive transformation campaign targeting old structures such as hospitals, schools, markets, and administrative offices within the Municipal Corporation.

Commissioner Rao emphasized the need to prioritize the refurbishment of key buildings during a recent review of the Kopri and Naupada Ward Committee's operations at the Wagle Ward Committee office. Among the immediate priorities highlighted were the construction of the new Naupada Ward Committee Office and the repair of the Kopri Sub Committee Ward Office building. Rao urged swift action in submitting proposals and expediting approval processes, with a particular focus on ensuring citizens have access to well-maintained administrative facilities.

Acknowledging the significance of revamping aging municipal infrastructure, Commissioner Rao stressed the importance of initiating a campaign aimed at transforming old structures to enhance convenience and safety for citizens. The directive included instructions for the construction department to draft a detailed plan encompassing building repairs, interior and exterior painting, entry and exit routes, parking facilities, and disaster management protocols within the coming month. Rao emphasized the goal of creating an inviting atmosphere for visitors to municipal buildings.

Addressing the pressing issue of occupied buildings classified under the high-risk category C One in Kopri and Naupada areas, Rao called for a time-bound program to be developed for their evacuation, involving 178 families and 67 shops. He emphasized the importance of implementing this program rigorously to ensure the safety of occupants.

During the review meeting, Circle Deputy Commissioner Shankar Patole and Assistant Commissioner Sopan Bhaik presented an overview of projects in the Kopri - Naupada ward committee area, with inputs from Suburban Engineers and other key stakeholders. Additional Commissioner (1) Sandeep Malvi, Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) G. G. Godepure, and other department heads were also in attendance, underscoring the collaborative effort required for the successful execution of the transformation campaign.
