Sustains serious injuries

In a disturbing incident on the Harbour Railway line, a 32-year-old passenger, Rajendra Kumar Lalji Diwakar, was brutally assaulted by four assailants, resulting in serious injuries. The assailants, reportedly youths, attacked Kumar over a petty dispute while aboard a local train between CBD and Nerul stations.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the assailants pushed Kumar from the moving train after a heated altercation, leading to severe injuries. Despite Kumar's attempts to diffuse the situation, the assailants persisted in their assault, ultimately causing him to fall onto the tracks.

The incident, which occurred on Friday, April 26, has shocked the community and raised concerns about passenger safety on public transport. Kumar, originally from the Kosebi district of Uttar Pradesh, was travelling to meet a relative in Panvel before the altercation took place.

Despite the presence of numerous passengers onboard, no one intervened to stop the assault or assist Kumar.

Following the incident, Panvel Railway Police have launched an investigation and are actively seeking the suspects involved. Meanwhile, Kumar is undergoing treatment at Sion Hospital in Mumbai.

Tragically, Kumar also suffered the loss of one arm, which was crushed under the train's wheels during the attack, leaving him permanently disabled.
