TMC chief urges immediate rehabilitation of citizens affected by K-Vila Bridge to Panchganga missing link road work

In a significant development concerning the construction of the missing link road between K-Vila Bridge and Panchganga in Uthalsar Ward Committee of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has directed swift rehabilitation measures for citizens affected by the ongoing roadwork.

The upcoming 676-meter long bridge is set to fill the gap between K-Vila Bridge and Panchganga, effectively connecting Rabodi to Saket, thereby streamlining road connectivity in the area. At a recent meeting, Commissioner Bangar highlighted the necessity of promptly relocating and rehabilitating individuals impacted by this infrastructural development.

Addressing the meeting, Bangar emphasized the imperative nature of facilitating smooth traffic flow by considering a fan-method approach for constructing the road, urging the Urban Development Department to initiate immediate discussions with the Jail Department to secure essential space required for this purpose.

Providing insights into the ongoing construction, officials reported that foundational work near the prison and protective wall construction along the drain area has been completed. Out of the 424 constructions affected on the Rabodi side, renovations are underway for 276 constructions, while approximately 150 constructions are yet to be impacted, with 50 requiring temporary relocation.

Commissioner Bangar instructed the Deputy Commissioner of the Real Estate Department to conduct a comprehensive survey to identify immediate housing alternatives for citizens requiring relocation. Additionally, directives were issued to the Public Works Department to expedite pending work through the concerned contractor.

The road's construction is part of a broader effort by the Municipal Corporation and other government bodies to alleviate traffic congestion in the city. The K-Vila Bridge to Panchganga missing link project holds significant importance in this endeavor, and once rehabilitations are complete, the pace of the bridge construction is anticipated to accelerate.

City Engineer Prashant Songra, Deputy City Engineer Vikas Dhole, Executive Engineer Sanjay Kadam, and Mohan Kalal were among the officials present at the crucial meeting, indicating a collaborative effort to ensure a swift and well-executed resolution to citizen rehabilitation and the completion of this vital infrastructure project, expected to conclude by September 2024 as Commissioner Bangar highlighted.
