The Commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), Saurabh Rao, reiterated the shared responsibility of achieving cleanliness objectives during the forthcoming Swachh Survekshan-2024 campaign. Stressing the importance of concerted action, Rao directed all municipal departments to collaborate closely in preparation for the survey.

Preparatory measures for Swachh Survekshan-2024 have been set in motion, with an intensive capacity-building session held recently at the Narendra Ballal Auditorium. The session, attended by municipal officials, provided insights into Thane Municipal Corporation's performance in 2023, identified areas for improvement, and outlined targets for the upcoming year. Deputy Commissioner Tushar Pawar of the Solid Waste Management department presented a comprehensive overview encompassing target setting, public awareness initiatives, and public participation strategies.

Recognizing the success stories of cities like Indore, Navi Mumbai, Pune, and Pimpri-Chinchwad under the Swachh Survekshan Abhiyan, Commissioner Saurabh Rao urged officials to explore and adapt best practices from these models to enhance Thane's municipal landscape.

Rao emphasized that achieving high marks in the survey is not merely an accolade but a reflection of efforts to uplift citizens' quality of life. Therefore, he urged all teams to operate under the leadership of Assistant Commissioners, with headquarters overseeing policy decisions. Additionally, Rao proposed the organization of a Swachh Ward competition at the ward committee level to foster innovation and community engagement.

The session witnessed the presence of Additional Commissioners Sandeep Malvi and Prashant Rode, City Engineer Prashant Sonagra, Deputy Commissioners G.G. Godepure and Manish Joshi, along with assistant commissioners and department heads.
