Navi Mumbai: Three Vibgyor School branches in Kharghar, Belapur and Airoli received threatening emails on October 23, prompting precautionary evacuations and police searches. The emails reportedly carried the message “Apne Bachche Bachao” (Save Your Children), raising concerns among school authorities and parents.

The incident came to light when an unidentified person sent a threatening email to Vibgyor School in Sector 16, Kharghar. Following the alert, Kharghar police rushed to the premises and questioned the principal to gather details about the message.

During the inquiry, police learned that the school’s Belapur and Airoli branches had also received similar emails. Considering the safety of students, the administrations of all three schools decided to send the children home as a precautionary measure.

Police subsequently deployed anti-sabotage teams and a dog squad to inspect the school buildings and surrounding areas. The teams carried out extensive searches of the premises, but no suspicious objects were found.

As a precaution, police personnel have also been deployed around the schools. Investigators are examining the threatening emails to identify the sender and determine the motive behind the messages.

Police appeal to citizens

Police have appealed to parents and citizens to remain calm and avoid spreading rumours about the incident. They have urged the public not to believe or circulate unverified information on social media or other platforms.

Citizens have also been advised to immediately inform the nearest police station if they notice any suspicious activity or possess information relevant to the investigation.

Police and school authorities are taking necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff as the investigation continues.
