Thane: Commuters on the Mumbai-Thane Road had a harrowing time as overnight heavy rainfall led to long traffic jams, especially near Anand Nagar in Thane on June 16.

The rainfall, which began around midnight on June 15, continued through the early hours of June 16, causing traffic jams and heavy congestion on the road.

Vehicles were stuck on the road as water clogging and rain brought traffic to near standstill.

Police have appealed to citizens to avoid coastal and low-lying areas in view of the Indian Meteorological Department’s warning of heavy rains.
