Recognizing the importance of active participation in the electoral process, the leaders of Thane's cooperative housing societies have pledged to ensure 100 percent voting in every society. Against the backdrop of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the 'sweep' program is being implemented across 148 assembly constituencies under 25 Thane-Lok Sabha constituencies.

Urmila Patil, the Voter Registration Officer and Sixth Election Decision Officer, emphasized the significance of voter participation in enhancing the democratic process. Under her guidance and the oversight of Additional Sixth Election Decision Officer Asawari Sansare, a workshop was organized for presidents and secretaries of cooperative housing societies at Neyojana Bhavan.

During the workshop, attendees were urged to actively promote voter awareness and motivate residents to exercise their voting rights. This concerted effort aims to elevate the voter turnout, with the outcomes of this endeavor to be documented in the annual accounting report of the societies, overseen by the district deputy registrar.

President and secretary of each housing society were encouraged to collaborate effectively and undertake special initiatives to augment voter turnout. Strategies to increase voter registration through various awareness activities were deliberated upon, with an emphasis on surpassing previous voter turnout percentages.

Addressing the workshop, Additional Sixth Electoral Officer Smt. Sansare underscored the importance of surpassing previous voting percentages and urged participants to strive for increased civic participation.

The workshop provided a platform for presidents and secretaries to address queries and concerns, ensuring clarity and understanding of the voter awareness drive. The sweep team chief Sopan Bhaik, along with all members of the sweep team, lent their support to the initiative.
