Kharghar: A potentially fatal electric accident was narrowly avoided in Pendhar village, Kharghar division, thanks to the swift response of Panvel Municipal Corporation’s electrical department head, Pritam Patil.

On the night of May 21, a live power conductor of MSEDCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd) snapped and fell on the main road during rain. Coincidentally, Patil was in the area for a family function when he spotted the fallen live wire.

"Sensing the gravity of the situation, he immediately contacted municipal electrical supervisor Rohan Bhoir and instructed that the power supply be cut off to prevent any mishap," an official said. The incident was immediately reported to MSEDCL for further follow-up and repair work.

Municipal commissioner and administrator Mangesh Chitale and other senior civic officials have commended Patil for his alertness and responsible action. "It was the quick thinking of the employee that ensured that nothing untoward happened," a senior official added.
