The member of Belapur Legislative Assembly of Shiv Sena  (UBT) has called for swift legal action against Fr. Agnel Junior College in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, following the tragic death of a student during a swimming lesson. The incident has reignited concerns over the qualifications and competence of the school's swimming coaches.

The unfortunate victim, identified as 17-year-old Mayur Adinath Dhamale, lost his life during a routine swimming session at the college's pool. Despite the presence of a designated lifeguard, the student's life could not be saved, raising serious questions about the adequacy of safety measures and the proficiency of staff members entrusted with student welfare.

This is not the first time such a tragedy has struck Fr. Agnel Junior College. In a chilling reminder of a past incident in 2016 where another student lost her life, authorities are under mounting pressure to conduct a thorough investigation into the recurrent safety lapses plaguing the institution.

During the meeting, demands were made for stringent measures to hold the school administration and swimming pool coach accountable for their alleged negligence.

The members emphasized the imperative need for transparency, urging authorities to scrutinize CCTV footage to ascertain the sequence of events leading to the tragic demise of the student. Additionally, there are calls for the swimming coaches to demonstrate their life-saving capabilities before relevant officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Education and senior police personnel.

Nikhil Mandve, Mayur Breathe, Satish Ramane, Siddharam Shilwant, and Sushil Surve were among those present at the gathering, advocating for justice and accountability in the face of this heart-wrenching tragedy.
