A remarkable turnout for a noble cause marked the success of 'Run for Flamingo Season 3'. Over two thousand runners and a significant number of environmental activists enthusiastically participated in the event, held on Sunday, February 11th, at Nerul. The run, which has gained considerable popularity in recent times, was organized and conducted by Wonderling Souls in collaboration with Save Navi Mumbai Environment Group, Shrunkhala, and Don Bosco Academy Nerul. The event was powered by Suryoday Bank and partnered with Himalayan, a Tata product, Sofit as the nutrition partner, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital Navi Mumbai as the medical and physio partner, Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai, Shrunkhala, and Earth Day Network India as cause partners.

The run for flamingos commenced at 5:30 am from Don Bosco School Ground Nerul, and after completing the designated stretch, participants congregated at the school ground.

The venue, Don Bosco turf ground, turned pink with thousands of participants and runners wearing pink tees. Mass Zumba sessions, workouts, and dances were performed at the end of the run, which featured a half marathon, 10 km, 5 km run, and 1 km carnival.

The cause, 'Save mangroves, Save wetlands to protect the environment,' resonated with every participant, and they promoted the message in an organized manner. The atmosphere inside the ground was electrifying as participants engaged in mass Zumba, dance, and workouts. Many were seen dancing with the Drummer group from Agro-Society, CBD.

According to organizer Sunil Agarwal, founder of Save Navi Mumbai Environment Group, "The run is a manifestation of people's participation to revolt against the ever-increasing destruction of wetlands in Navi Mumbai. On World Wetlands Day, we appeal to residents to put on their running shoes to create awareness about wetlands, mangroves, and the visiting flamingos. We were overwhelmed by the response from every corner of the city as well as the MMR region. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to every single person present here at the ground to raise awareness. Even children also did their best to promote the cause."

Ambassador Dharmesh Barai, the mangrove clean-up warrior, emphasized that the run is not about winning or losing but a platform that brings together every environmental lover to dedicate themselves to the cause of saving mangroves and wetlands.

'Run for Flamingos,' the brainchild of Sunil and Shruti Agarwal, started in 2019 and continues to create awareness about saving wetlands and mangroves to preserve biodiversity, marine life, and thousands of migratory birds.

The run was supported by the Navi Mumbai Police, with Mr. Sanjay Yenpure, Joint Commissioner of Police, and other police officers attending the event. Babasaheb Rajale, DCM Solid Waste Management, NMMC, was also present at the occasion. Girish Bindra served as the Race Captain.

Stalin Dayanand, Nandakumar Pawar , RJ Achana Pania, Shweta Chaudhury played significant role in organising the event.
