Thane: A long-pending issue for residents of Patlipada–Dongripada is set to see a breakthrough, as efforts to regularise 50–60-year-old constructions on government land have begun. The move is expected to provide relief to around 20,000 residents, following a positive response from the Revenue Minister and the District Collector.
MLA Sanjay Kelkar, who raised the matter during the legislative session, shared the update during the “Jansevakacha Jansamvad” programme at the BJP office in Khopat.
“Around 4,000 families have been living here for decades, paying taxes since the time of the Gram Panchayat. They have been provided civic amenities by the corporation, yet eviction notices recently left them distressed. We demanded that these constructions be regularised under Section 51, and the Revenue Department has responded positively,” Kelkar said.
Addressing concerns in Dharamveer Nagar, he added, “Officials have been directed to carry out urgent repairs in the dilapidated BSUP buildings where a lift collapse recently injured residents. Thousands of contract workers are also not covered by insurance, depriving them of compensation.”
Kelkar further highlighted pending administrative matters, including Seventh Pay Commission dues, compassionate appointments, inheritance rights for filaria department workers, and teacher grievances.
“Despite clear instructions from the Municipal Commissioner, implementation has been slow. We have now issued strict instructions again to ensure these issues are resolved,” he said.
Corporators Suresh Kamble and Deepak Jadhav were present during the programme. Residents expressed hope that the government’s positive response will bring long-awaited relief and security to their homes.
