Rajendra Gharat's 25th Braille book published

Rajendra Gharat, Deputy Editor of 'Appale Nave Shahar', celebrated a significant milestone as his twenty-fifth Braille books, titled 'Ganpati, Gite and Ganarasik' and 'Shikanyacha Vay', were launched on June 23rd. The esteemed occasion, held at Snehajyothi Nivas Blind School, Gharadi, Mandangad, District Ratnagiri, witnessed the books' release by senior writer, lyricist, and musician Iqbal Sharf Mukadam.
In addition to Gharat's publications, Navi Mumbai Municipal Secretary Mrs. Chitra Baviskar's works 'Rashtriya San' and 'Bhartiya San' were also unveiled by Mr. Mukadam during the ceremony.
The event was marked by heartfelt speeches and reflections on the significance of Braille literature in enhancing accessibility for the visually impaired. Mr. Mukadam emphasized the role of Braille in empowering individuals with disabilities, highlighting its ability to provide knowledge and information despite physical limitations.
During his address, Mr. Mukadam, expressing his admiration for Hindu deities, particularly Lord Krishna, underscored his diverse literary contributions that include hymns dedicated to Krishna and Radhe.
Principal Mrs. Pratibha Sengupta, instrumental in the Braille adaptation of Gharat's writings over the years, was lauded for her dedication in enabling visually impaired students to access literary works. Gharat, in an emotional tribute, likened Mrs. Sengupta to his late mother, also named Pratibha, acknowledging her pivotal role in bringing twenty-five of his books to the Braille format.
Mrs. Chitra Baviskar emphasized the importance of literature in nurturing the human mind, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to literary endeavours.
The ceremony was further enriched by musical performances by students and teachers of the school, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of cultural exchange and celebration.
In a gesture of generosity, essentials including food, umbrellas, clothes, and grains brought by Gharat, Baviskar, and well-wishers from Navi Mumbai and beyond were distributed to the children, highlighting the community spirit and support for the school's endeavours.
