54 centres launched

The inauguration of the ‘Pramod Mahajan Rural Skill Development Centre’ marked a significant milestone in Konkan Division as PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the 54 centres on Thursday via an audio-visual system.  Dr. Mahendra Kalyankar, the Divisional Commissioner, attended the inaugural program at Panvel Centre. These centres aim to bolster youth employment opportunities and promote rural development.

A total of 54 centres were inaugurated, out of 511 centres established across the state in various gram panchayats. Notably, this initiative addresses the critical need for skill development centres in rural areas.

Distinguished dignitaries, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, and Chief Secretary Manoj Saunik, graced the occasion through the audio-visual system. Also present were MLA Prashant Thakur, Deputy Commissioner (Development) Girish Bhalerao, Deputy Commissioner Skill Development DD Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Panvel Municipal Corporation Kailash Gawde, Director of Pragati Skill Development Chavan, and other officials and employees from the Panvel Centre.

The inauguration of these skill development centres is a crucial step in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to provide employment opportunities to the youth in their home regions, thereby reducing the need for rural-to-urban migration in search of employment. The state government plans to further expand the network of such centres in the future.

These skill development centres have been strategically established in rural areas spanning 34 districts with 9 in Thane district, 12 in Palghar district, 14 in Raigad district, 11 in Ratnagiri district, and 8 in Sindhudurg district.

The inauguration ceremony of the "Pramod Mahajan Rural Skill Development Centre" witnessed successful implementation in various locations across Konkan Division. The program concluded at Kon Gram Panchayat in Thane with the presence of Union Minister of State Kapil Patil, while Collector Thane Ashok Shingare was in attendance. In Raigad, Collector Dr. Yogesh Mhse participated in the program from Chendre Gram Panchayat Centre, attended by 1,500 young men, women, and students. The program extended to 12 places in Palghar district, and in Ratnagiri district, it concluded at 11 locations under the chairmanship of Collector M. Devendra Singh.

Collectors, Chief Executive Officers, District Skill Officers, and other departmental officers and employees played an active role in making the skill development program in Konkan Division a resounding success, with a large number of students present to witness this historic occasion.
