Panvel: Residents within Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) jurisdiction are hopeful of finding an amicable solution to the ‘unjust property tax issue’ following the intervention of Eknath Shinde, deputy chief minister and minister of urban development.

Kharghar Colony Forum’s chairperson Leena Garad along with Adv. Prathamesh Soman met with Shinde on May 19th and explained in detail. Shinde advised to meet K Govindraj, principal secretary, urban development department. Govindraj has convened a meeting with Mangesh Chitale, commissioner, PMC, on May 28 at the Ministry.

“For the past five years, we have been continuously fighting against the illegally imposed, retrospective, and discriminatory double property tax. It is hoped that with the intervention of Shri Eknath Shinde, the issue of the property owners in PMC will be resolved,” shared Garad.

Mangesh Adhav, president, Kamothe Colony Forum voiced, “we need to fulfil our demands, principally to revoke property taxes levied retrospectively. We are hopeful that the authorities will lend their ears and will solve this issue.”
