Open Gym and Badminton Court unveiled for police officers at CBD Belapur Police Station

In a proactive move aimed at prioritizing the physical and mental well-being of its officers and staff, the Central Business District (CBD) Police Station in Navi Mumbai has unveiled an innovative initiative – an open gym and a badminton court. Spearheaded by Senior Police Inspector Giridhar Gore, this endeavour seeks to encourage law enforcement personnel to incorporate fitness activities into their demanding work schedules.

The initiative, which has received accolades from Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe, underscores the growing recognition of the importance of officer health within law enforcement agencies. He emphasized the significance of such programs in promoting a culture of wellness among police personnel, highlighting the challenges posed by the rigorous demands of their duties.

The introduction of the open gym and badminton court is part of a broader strategy by Commissioner Bharambe to enhance working conditions for officers and improve community policing efforts. A pivotal aspect of this strategy is the implementation of the EMC (Central Issues Cell) pilot program, inaugurated last month in the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate.

This initiative addresses the longstanding issue of seized vehicles cluttering police premises by relocating them to a dedicated facility at Taloja, thereby optimizing space at various police station premises.

The transformation at the CBD Belapur police station serves as a testament to the efficacy of these initiatives. Following the relocation of seized vehicles to the EMC facility, unused spaces within the station premises were repurposed to accommodate the open gym and badminton court.

With the support of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, these facilities aim to provide officers with opportunities to prioritize their health and well-being during their arduous 24-hour duty shifts.

Recognizing the toll that prolonged duty hours can take on the physical and mental health of police officers, Commissioner Bharambe underscored the importance of initiatives like the open gym and badminton court. These facilities not only promote physical fitness but also serve as outlets for stress relief and mental rejuvenation for the police force.

The inauguration of the Open Gym was attended by Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Bharambe, along with other senior police officers, who expressed their appreciation for the initiative and its potential impact on the health and well-being of police personnel.
