With the mercury on the rise, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has proactively geared up to address the looming threat of heat stroke. Under the directives of NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, the health department has taken decisive steps to ensure the welfare of citizens amidst soaring temperatures.

A total of 17 beds have been earmarked across three hospitals under the NMMC's purview, equipped with state-of-the-art air-conditioning systems to accommodate individuals suffering from heat stroke. The hospitals in Airoli and Vashi each boast five beds, while Nerul Hospital is furnished with seven beds, all with dedicated cooling facilities to alleviate the discomfort of patients.

Dr. Prashant Javade, Chief Medical Officer of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, stated that comprehensive arrangements have been made to cater to heat stroke patients, with specialized wards established in Airoli, Vashi, and Nerul hospitals. These wards are staffed with medical personnel and equipped with requisite medical apparatus to administer prompt and effective treatment.

In addition to hospital facilities, primary healthcare services are readily available at all 24 Civil Health Centres situated within the jurisdiction of NMMC in Navi Mumbai. Dr. Javade emphasized the importance of timely intervention and urged citizens to seek medical assistance at the earliest sign of heat-related discomfort.
