In a strategic move aimed at ensuring uninterrupted municipal services, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has delegated additional responsibilities to senior officers amidst recent transfers within its ranks.
According to a senior official from the NMMC, former Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar has issued directives to distribute additional responsibilities among existing officers to maintain the smooth functioning of day-to-day administration.
Under these directives, Deputy Commissioner Sharad Pawar has been appointed to oversee a spectrum of crucial departments. His portfolio now includes responsibilities such as Additional Commissioner-1, supervision of the tax department (including property tax), vehicle and mechanical department, as well as the election department. This strategic distribution of duties is aimed at streamlining administrative processes and ensuring continuity in service delivery.
Similarly, Additional City Engineer Shirish Aardwad has been entrusted with additional duties, including those of Additional Commissioner-2 and Deputy Commissioner of the Property Division within the Encroachment Division.
Rahul B. Gethe, in addition to his current role, has been assigned further responsibilities as the head of the Solid Waste Management Department and the Swachh Maharashtra Mission Cell.
In another realignment, Chandrakant Tayde, Deputy Commissioner of the Disaster Management Department, will now oversee operations in Circle-2. Meanwhile, Kisanrao Palande, Deputy Commissioner of the Social Development Department, assumes the role of head of the licensing department and veterinary officer.
