NMMC cracks down on unauthorized constructions across eight wards

Navi Mumbai: The encroachment department of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) carried a major crackdown on unauthorized constructions simultaneously across eight wards under the municipal corporation’s jurisdiction. The operation, led by Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde and Deputy Commissioner of the Encroachment Department Dr. Rahul Gethe, targeted multiple sites to enforce compliance with the Maharashtra Regional Urban Planning Act 1966.

Despite prior notices under Section 54 of the Act, many concerned parties failed to address the issues. As a result, the encroachment department executed demolitions and removals at several sites:

Shahabaz Village, Belapur Division:  Seven unauthorized and additional construction work at Mahesh Kumbhar’s residence was demolished. Additionally, eight unauthorized structures belonging to Ravindra Waghmare were razed.

Sector 5, Sanpada, Turbhe Division: Demolition action was taken against the RCC construction at House No. 568, owned by Vasudev Ramchandra Patil.

Koparkhairane Division: Unauthorized constructions at House No. 1026, Sector 4A, belonging to Dilip Vasant Patil, and House No. 1035, Sector 4A, owned by Atmaram Laxman Yedge, were demolished.

Ghansoli Section: The additional sixth floor of Jayashree Sham Shinde’s building was demolished. Unauthorized RCC columns at Sonu Bholekumar Gupta’s property in Dattanagar were also demolished.

Sagarnath Rama Madhavi’s Building:  The construction of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors of the RCC building was halted.

This crackdown, carried out in a single day, was executed with significant resources including labourers, poklans, gas cutters, breakers, and JCBs. The operation was executed under the guidance of key officials: Assistant Commissioner of the Encroachment Department Headquarters Dr. Amol Palve, Assistant Commissioner of Belapur Division Shashikant Tandel, Engineer Mayuresh Pawar, Assistant Commissioner of Turbhe Division Bharat Dhande, Engineer Amit Pawar, Assistant Commissioner of Ghansoli Division Sanjay Taide, Engineer Rohit Thackeray, and Assistant Commissioner of Airoli Division Ashok Ahire with Junior Engineer Raj Nagargoje.

The Municipal Commissioner emphasized that similar actions will be implemented with equal intensity in the future to maintain compliance and curb unauthorized constructions.
