In a significant development aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and ensuring pedestrian safety, Thane Lok Sabha MP Rajan Vichare's persistent efforts have borne fruit with the approval for the construction of a new subway at Pandurang Wadi and Delhi Darbar Hotel on National Highway No. 8.

MP Rajan Vichare has been actively addressing the traffic challenges posed by the Versova Bridge on National Highway No. 8, adjacent to the Mira-Bhyander city union. The presence of scrap vehicles under the flyover and the risks posed to pedestrians have been a long-standing concern. Vichare's advocacy for a solution dates back to 2015, when he first penned a letter to the Project Director of National Highways.

After concerted efforts and advocacy, the Municipal Corporation granted permission to remove the scrap vehicles, marking a crucial step towards ensuring public safety in the area. Following the inauguration of the Versova Bridge, Vichare pursued the construction of new subways to address the lingering issues.

The proposed subways, sanctioned at a total cost of Rs. 50 crores as part of a larger Rs. 553 crore project by the National Highways Authority, will significantly enhance connectivity and safety for pedestrians and motorists alike. The subway at Pandurang Wadi will span 22 meters and will feature a height of five and a half meters, allowing for the passage of heavy vehicles and ensuring seamless communication for residents.

Expressing gratitude, MP Rajan Vichare extended his thanks to  Nitin Gadkari for recognizing the pressing needs of the citizens and incorporating the subway construction into the broader highway project. The approval for the new subways underscores a commitment to infrastructure development and public welfare in the region.

With construction set to commence, residents can look forward to safer and more efficient transportation along National Highway No. 8, marking a significant step forward in the region's infrastructure landscape.
