Uran: If all goes as per plan the news administration building of Uran Municipal Council (UMC) will soon be inaugurated. An official on condition of anonymity said that the work is 90 percent complete and the final painting touch work has been started. The building is likely to be inaugurated by next month.
Apart from the administrative building, a market and a community hall too will be inaugurated soon. These developments, spearheaded by MLA Mahesh Baldi, faced some delays due to legislative sessions and code of conduct adherence. The inauguration, expected soon, will be graced by senior ministers from the Maharashtra state government.
Costing approximately Rs. 6.50 crores, the state-of-the-art administrative building has progressed swiftly, focusing now on finalizing furniture and minor details, amounting to an additional expenditure of Rs. 3.50 lakhs.
Over the past eight years, Uran Municipal Council has operated from an aging structure, inadequate for the growing demands of its operations, especially during monsoons. With an annual budget exceeding Rs. 50 crores, the new administrative building aims to provide a modern, spacious environment for enhanced municipal services.
Spanning 25,000 square feet across two floors, the building will feature ground floor parking for 20 vehicles, administrative offices on the first floor, and an auditorium on the second floor. Additionally, commercial spaces within the building are expected to generate supplementary income for the Parishad.
In parallel, the construction of the Samaj Mandir, costing Rs. 5.25 crores, and the market building, with an expenditure of Rs. 4.11 crores, are also nearing completion. These facilities are crucial for catering to the growing urbanization and commercial activities in Uran.
"The completion of these landmark constructions marks a significant milestone for Uran Nagar Parishad. We anticipate the inauguration to symbolize a new era of enhanced civic amenities and administrative efficiency," remarked Sameer Jadhav, CEO of Uran Municipal Council.
