As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, Navi Mumbai Police has intensified its efforts to ensure the maintenance of law and order. With the implementation of the Code of Conduct, the police have sprung into action, forming six squads to crack down on criminal activities within the city limits.

Deputy Commissioner of Special Branch, Prashant Mohite, revealed that 663 weapons belonging to license holders have been collected, and preventive action has been taken against 270 individuals. This proactive approach aims to prevent any disturbances during the elections, particularly considering the presence of political figures and activists with criminal backgrounds in the city.

Since the initiation of the Code of Conduct, 270 individuals have faced preventive action under Sections 107 and 110. The police are actively pursuing individuals with criminal records, with six already expelled from the city and district. Additionally, efforts are underway to track down and take action against 15 to 20 more criminals.

A dedicated team has been appointed to enforce the code of conduct, focusing on narcotics, illegal liquor production, and transportation. Cases have already been registered for code violations in Kamothe and Panvel city.

To bolster security during the elections, Navi Mumbai Police, along with reinforcements from the Central Reserve Force and Home Guard, will be deployed. Citizens are encouraged to report any irregularities through the police or the Election Commission's C-Vigil app, with Deputy Commissioner Prashant Mohite assuring prompt action on complaints.

In their crackdown on illegal activities, the police have seized 3409 liters of liquor worth Rs 3.54 lakh, along with significant quantities of drugs including ganja, charas, MD, and LSD. Furthermore, 23 different types of arms have been confiscated, highlighting the police's commitment to ensuring a safe and fair electoral process.
